Just recently I had the "fun" time of installing a remote start in a 2013 BMW X3. The majority of shops and so forth DO NOT have a solution for this, because there is no 'plug and play' solution to control the vehicle through the CAN Bus system. Some BMW models have a legit solution (3 Series, etc), but this one did not.
I observed the same with my 2010 328xi. I found out later that it is a common issue with BMW non-turbo all-wheel -drive vehicles (Google "328xi unpredictable"). This was definite joy killing for me. I took the hit in depreciation and traded it for a 2011 X3 x35i. The lag is almost negligible in the BMW AWD turbo cars (335xi, x35i etc).
THE EXPERTS SAY. BMW sold about 20,000 X3s of this generation in Australia, including the midlife refresh in 2014, for just two recalls. There are just over 450 of the F25 X3 model listed for sale
Later in the day I might pay the $30 to access BMW TIS since I can find absolutely no DIY videos or writeups for the F25 radiator anywhere. It wasn't that bad to get it out, but now I'm stuck with this seemingly wrong part that's supposed to be the right part. If anyone has also run into this I would love it if you could shed some light on this.
